Ex-Eagles starter already looking like a ground out trade on new team

At the moment when the Philadelphia Eagles traded quarterback Kenny Pickett to the Cleveland Browns, many in Philly were happy for him, as it was a chance for him to start at quarterback. It's not looking that way after a brutal training camp for Pickett.

It has nothing to do with Pickett's performance, but rather his lack of availability. He has been out of training camp since late July, recovering from his hamstring injury. Pickett has yet to step on the field in a Browns uniform.

He's currently in a position battle with Joe Flacco, Dillon Gabriel, and Shedeur Sanders. Flacco has sat for all of preseason, but appears to be in line to start. Gabriel and Sanders have had good showings in preseason with each getting a start and receiving praise from the media.

Pickett is in trouble of losing his job

Eagles fans got to see Pickett's potential to be a starter as he made one start last year for the team after Jalen Hurts suffered a concussion against the Washington Commanders late in the season. Pickett finished with 291 yards and two touchdowns to one interception with one rushing score in five games. He did win his only start against the Dallas Cowboys, but was knocked out of that game with his own injury, with Tanner McKee replacing him and essentially winning the backup job for 2025.

Things aren't looking so good for the former Eagles signal caller in Cleveland. Pickett hasn't had much of a chance to prove himself since he's missing so much time with the injury.

It all seemed to be going well before the injury, as he was receiving praise from his teammates. Many thought Pickett had a legit shot at starting as the younger veteran over Flacco.

Over the last couple of weeks, Pickett has become the subject of trade rumors and is being considered a potential training camp cut candidate. It doesn't help that Gabriel and Sanders are playing well in their preseason games.

The only saving grace for Pickett is if the injuries keep piling up for the Browns. Otherwise, Eagles fans might see their former signal caller either looking for a new team or being forced to be traded to another one.
