Ex-NFL QB Predicts That Russell Wilson Will Hoist Super Bowl Trophy in 2024

While many analyst envision a true quarterback competition between Russell Wilson and Justin Fields, former NFL quarterback Ryan Leaf thinks Russell Wilson is without a doubt the top quarterback in the room.

The Steelers’ are projected to finish last in the AFC North, but Leaf thinks so highly of Wilson that he thinks  the Black and Gold will be legit Super Bowl contenders in 2024.

“Well, I don’t think there’s going to be a competition frankly. I think it’s Russ’ job and he has everything to play for,” Leaf said on the Up & Adams Show with Kay Adams. “I think it would absolutely be hilarious and also you would have to ask Sean Payton the question if you ever get him on the show. Ask him if he would go to the Super Bowl parade since they essentially gave them a franchise quarterback and are paying the freight for it because I don’t see why the Pittsburgh Steelers couldn’t be a Super Bowl champion.

That’s quite a bold take by Leaf, as the Steelers’ Super Bowl odds currently stand at at +5000. The Steelers improved their roster tremendously this offseason, but they’re probably still a year or two away from competing for a Super Bowl. There are still major question wide receiver and cornerback. There’s no guarantee at quarterback, either.

“Watch out for the Steelers. I think Russ has every bit of being a Super Bowl champion quarterback in him and I don’t think anybody else does. I think he’s going to shock a lot of people with Arthur Smith and what they do with that offense,” Leaf said.

Wilson spoke highly of Smith at the first day of Steelers’ OTAs on Tuesday. He could be exactly what Wilson needs to resurrect his career.

“I’ve been able to watch him and experience Coach Arthur Smith over the years, and just his knowledge of the game. His knowledge of getting people in the right place at the right time. Physicality that he coaches with in terms of all of us players having us play with that mentality. We’re gonna be able to run the ball downhill, obviously. Play-action is going to be key. I think just doing the right things in the right moments. Situation football is everything. If we can do that as a collective on offense, defense and special teams… We got a chance, and that’s all you can ask for,” Wilson said.
