This Saturday football game is a rare treat for the football fan – that is for those of us who are working and thus would not be out partying anyway. And tonight has been thoroughly entertaining, despite low scoring. From Ceedee Lamb’s touchback fumble that would have Bill Belichick shaking in his well, jacket, as Boston is rather cold at this time of year to turnovers by both quarterbacks, this has been a great back-and-forth game.
However, one man will likely have to endure some fairly virulent roasting on Twitter – sorry, ‘X’ , and other forms of social media, for one of the lamest tackling attempts since Teddy Bridgewater’s business decision, which lead to star Cowboys receiver, Ceedee Lamb, going for a 92 yard touchdown from his, at one point, MVP-calibre QB.

This number 55 is indeed inside linebacker and former 4th round pick, Derrick Barnes. Not to out him or anything. It might take you a couple of watches, but you should be able to find the fairly pitiful attempt fairly quickly. Whilst the Detroit Lions on the whole have performed well on the week following their historic achievement last week, it seems perhaps one team member may have gone a bit too wild with the celebrations.
To make matters worse, here is the end zone angle which makes the miss look oh-so-much worse.

Predictably, fans piled onto this poorest execution of poorly executed plays, in a not-entirely-original but still very much amusing fashion.

And, of course, other accounts just flat out laid into Derrick Barnes.

Lesson of the story – wrap up! Tackles, jackets, whatever. As my old rugby coaches would say, the bigger the man, harder they fall. But, in fairness to Barnes, he has played well this season and earned his starting spot, and hopefully this will not dissaude him too much. It is still pretty funny though.
