Fantasy Football Implications of Aaron Rodgers Revealing Steelers WR1

Since fantasy football is a game of not only talent but volume, figuring out the WR1 on a team is absolutely crucial. It seems like we may have found the answer for the Pittsburgh Steelers from Aaron Rodgers.

Chris Adamski on X would quote Aaron Rodgers saying, “We gotta get the ball to DK. He’s our No. 1 for a reason.” This doesn’t necessarily come as a shock, but the Steelers did add another wide receiver this offseason in Michael Pittman Jr.

Last season, DK Metcalf was not necessarily great, only catching 59 passes for 850 yards and six touchdowns. As for Pittman, he had similar numbers on the Indianapolis Colts with 80 catches for 784 yards and seven touchdowns.

Keep in mind that Pittman is not a bad player by any means, as he went for 1,152 yards and 109 catches in 2023. That said, it seems like Rodgers views him as their WR2, not WR1.

Where is Michael Pittman Jr. Being Drafted Right Now? Fantasy Football

Taking a look at the FantasyPros ADP, the community knows this as well. Pittman is going as the WR43 with an overall ADP of 102.9. Compare that to Metcalf, who is the WR34 with an overall ADP of 78.8.

Not that I’m a huge fan of Metcalf, but Pittman’s not necessarily a player I’m looking to draft in that range. Although it’s not as if Pittman is going extremely high, the WR2 on what projects to be one of the worst offenses in the NFL is not something I’m looking for.

Right now, the implied team totals for Pittsburgh are 21.4, ranking 24th in the NFL. Even though Pittman is not a bad NFL player, we haven’t seen him score over 12.5 PPG since 2023.

In a fantasy football league with two wide receivers and one FLEX spot, Pittman is not someone I’m going to target.
