Fantasy football Week 7: Be wary of Jaxson Dart and other potential flops

There are some worrisome fantasy football matchups and potential land mines on the Week 7 NFL slate. Let's take a look at five players who could flop based on their projections.

New York Giants QB Jaxson Dart vs. Denver Broncos

PPR projection: 13.78

Dart will be a popular start this week after putting up 19.84, 15.58 and 23.6 points in his first three games, but fantasy owners should tread lightly here. The Broncos have a nasty defense that ranks second in points allowed to quarterbacks and just held Justin Fields to 45 passing yards and 4.9 fantasy points. You might want to keep Dart on the bench for this one.

Tennessee Titans RB Tony Pollard vs. New England Patriots

PPR projection: 10.1

Pollard was a solid RB2 through five weeks, but a healthy Tyjae Spears is already eating into his workload. In Week 6, Pollard played a season-low 43 percent of Tennessee's offensive snaps to Spears' 59 percent. He finished the game with only 34 rushing yards and 6.7 fantasy points. Expect more of the same against a Patriots defense that's giving up the sixth-fewest points to running backs.

Jacksonville Jaguars RB Travis Etienne vs. Los Angeles Rams

PPR projection: 13.4

After a strong start to the fantasy season, Etienne has taken a step back due to a few tough matchups in a row. That streak continues in Week 7, as the Rams rank third in points allowed to running backs and first in rushing touchdowns allowed. Jacksonville could be in for another slow offensive game this week.

Miami Dolphins WR Jaylen Waddle vs. Cleveland Browns

PPR projection: 15.1

Despite Waddle's high projection, he has a high chance to bust in Week 7. The Browns have a strong pass rush and secondary, and the forecast calls for rain and wind gusts of up to 50-60 miles per hour. Yikes. Rainy, extremely windy conditions aren't conducive to successful passing attacks, especially with QB Tua Tagovailoa and his below-average arm strength.

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce vs. Las Vegas Raiders

PPR projection: 10.8

Kelce has been an important piece of Kansas City's passing attack this season, but this is the time when the Chiefs could start to reel him back and save him for the playoffs. Star wide receiver Rashee Rice is set to make his season debut on Sunday, giving QB Patrick Mahomes a ton of options at his disposal. The ball will be spread around more than it has all year, and the Raiders are giving up the eighth-fewest points to tight ends.
