Las Vegas Raiders wide recevier Tre Tucker is one of the biggest names in fantasy football after his dominant Week 3 production. Finishing as the WR1 overall while posting an insane 8/145/3 stat line, the former third-round pick was the most popular waiver wire add of the past week. Nobody expects him to replicate his 40-point game, but can he be a week-in, week-out starter for the remainder of the season?
Claiming Tre Tucker on waivers is a must, but anyone who rostered Travis Fulgham knows that one week of dominance does not necessarily translate to reliable play over a full season. Can Tre Tucker build on this momentum and become a reliable fantasy football weapon, or was this a flash in the pan?
Volume is key in fantasy football, and Tucker historically has not been great at demanding targets. Throughout the course of his three-year career, Tucker has never recorded double-digit targets and has only one stretch where he recorded eight or more targets in consecutive games. The good news is that those two games are his most recent, which suggests quarterback Geno Smith and head coach Pete Carroll see something they like in Tucker.
While he made the most of his opportunities in Week 3, Tre Tucker did not do much of anything through the first two weeks of the season. While he found the endzone in Week 1, he only finished with two receptions for 54 yards on three targets. He saw eight targets in Week 2, but he only turned that into three receptions for 12 yards.
Looking at a larger sample, Tucker has never been particularly efficient with his targets. Throughout the course of his career, he’s only caught 79 of his 135 targets, good for a below-average 58.5% catch rate and a 43.7% success rate. Again, it’s possible he’s making the Year 3 leap under a new coach and quarterback, but that is anything but a guarantee.
Nobody knows what the long-term future holds for Tre Tucker in fantasy football, but you should feel comfortable with him in Week 4. The Raiders host the Chicago Bears, and this team has one of the league’s worst defenses. While they kept a CeeDee Lamb-less Dallas offense mostly in check, they blew a Week 1 league to J.J. McCarthy and were dominated by the Detroit Lions in Week 2.
Caleb Williams also had the best game of his career in Week 3, as Ben Johnson opened up the playbook and took advantage of the 2024 first-overall pick’s physical gifts. This is a recipe for a high-scoring game, and Tucker should see enough targets. As far as Week 4 is concerned, you should be able to feel comfortable with Tucker as a flex play.
