Fellow center gets Jason Kelce's old locker

The Eagles have already begun transitioning to life following Jason Kelce's retirement.

Offensive lineman Cam Jurgens met with the media on Wednesday and told the press that all of his belongings were moved into Kelce's old spot in the locker room.

Jurgens was originally selected by the Eagles in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft — a move that received Kelce's stamp of approval to be his eventual replacement.

Heading into his third year following his first full year as a starter, Jurgens will try to continue his dominant performance in 2023 where he allowed no sacks, per ESPN stats.

Jurgens will likely slide inside to be the new starting center, leaving an open right guard spot up for grabs. The Eagles currently have Tyler Steen, Brett Toth and Darian Kinnard in line to compete for the spot; however, the former filled in Jurgens' old locker, signaling he could be in line for the first look at being the right guard starter.

There may also be some intrigue for general manager Howie Roseman to add to the competition through the NFL Draft. The Eagles have been often linked to drafting Oregon's Jackson Powers-Johnson and Duke's Graham Barton due to Kelce's absence, but the writing on the wall shows the Eagles have been prepared to make Jurgens their new center for a while now.
