,The Las Vegas Raiders believe they have found their quarterback of the future in Fernando Mendoza. What makes the situation even more intriguing is that Mendoza will have access to arguably the greatest quarterback in NFL history throughout his development.

Since becoming a minority owner of the Raiders, Tom Brady has played a significant role behind the scenes, helping shape the direction of the organization alongside owner Mark Davis. From front-office decisions to roster construction, Brady’s influence has been evident throughout the franchise’s recent transformation.

Now, his attention could help accelerate the growth of the player many believe is the most important piece of the Raiders’ future.

When Mark Davis brought Brady into the ownership group, the vision extended beyond business. Davis wanted one of football’s greatest minds involved in helping rebuild the organization, and Brady has embraced that responsibility.

The seven-time Super Bowl champion remains as competitive as ever, and his fingerprints can be found on several key decisions made by the franchise over the last two seasons.

Among the most important was the Raiders’ decision to select Mendoza with the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft. The organization views Mendoza as its franchise quarterback, and Brady has already become an invaluable resource as the rookie begins adjusting to life in the NFL.

A Full-Circle Moment for Mendoza

Like many young quarterbacks, Mendoza grew up idolizing Brady. Now he finds himself in the unique position of receiving guidance directly from the player he spent years watching dominate the league.

“I think what he said as a quarterback is you need to be the most everything,” Mendoza said. “You need to be the most competitive. You need to be the most leader, you have to have the most leadership.”

Brady’s message goes far beyond throwing mechanics or reading defenses. Instead, he’s emphasizing the traits that helped him become one of the most successful athletes in sports history.

Learning How to Lead

One of Brady’s greatest strengths throughout his 23-year career was his ability to lead a locker room. According to Mendoza, Brady has stressed the importance of earning respect through actions rather than words.

“You need to be the toughest, both mentally and physically,” Mendoza said. “And you’ve got to embody all these things and lead by example before gaining that equity and respect from your teammates in order to lead effectively.”

For a rookie quarterback entering a professional locker room filled with veteran players, that lesson may prove just as valuable as anything learned on the practice field.

Leadership cannot be assigned. It must be earned. Few players in NFL history understand that better than Brady.
