Martinez spent the 2025 season and 2026 offseason with the 49ers before being waived on August 30 as the team trimmed its roster to the required 53 players.
He competed for the QB3 job behind Brock Purdy and Mac Jones, but the 49ers ultimately awarded the role to second-year quarterback Kurtis Rourke, despite Rourke appearing in just one preseason game.
Martinez entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent with the Detroit Lions in 2023. He also spent time with the New York Jets.
Martinez has appeared in just one NFL regular-season game, which came with the 49ers in 2025. He has yet to attempt a pass and has played just one snap—taking a knee for the final play in a game against the New York Giants.
