Former Eagles All-Pro pass rusher Haason Reddick spotted in Japan amid Jets holdout
Brad Penner-USA TODAY Sports

Former Philadelphia Eagles and current New York Jets all-pro pass rusher Haason Reddick was spotted in Tokyo, Japan after skipping voluntary OTAs and mandatory minicamp.

Reddick, who is said to be holding out for a new contract, posted a video of himself walking down the streets of Japan while rocking a traditional Japanese outfit.

It's hard not to laugh.

Per ESPN, the Jets knew Reddick wanted a long-term deal before trading for him, but thought they could 'make the relationship work' instead of offering him more money.

Now, they're stuck trying to make their new starting pass rusher happy, while he's cosplaying in Tokyo.

It's not out of the ordinary for players to be out of the country right now before they have to report to training camp. But whether or not Reddick shows up then raises some concern.

Reddick, 29, is due a non-guaranteed $14.25 million in 2024, the final year of his three-year, $45 million contract that he signed with the Eagles in 2022. That deal looks like a bargain now for one of the only players in the league to record 10 or more sacks over the last four seasons.

Former NFL offensive lineman turned analyst Ross Tucker doesn't think Reddick should settle for his current deal.

"Hasson Reddick is not playing for $14 million this year," Tucker said during an appearance on 94WIP. "I don't blame him, he shouldn't do it. Nick Bosa makes $32 million a year. Why should Haason Reddick be playing the last year of his deal for less than half of what he's worth?"

But after a slight dip in production last fall, it makes sense as to why the Jets might be hesitant to pay an almost 30-year-old a heft deal-- just like Howie Roseman was.
