Ridder was drafted by the Falcons 74th overall in the 2022 draft and would be their starting quarterback for the 2023 season. In that season, Ridder finished 6-7 with 2,836 yards, 12 touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He would be benched for Taylor Heinecke during week 8 and regained his starting role in week 12.
Ridder was then traded to the Cardinals, where he failed to make their opening day roster and would end up signing with the Raiders, where he threw for 458 yards, 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. He came as relied to both Gardner Minshew and Aidan O'Connell who both were injured.
Ridder is still only 25 years old and unproven at the NFL level. He was chosen to be the Falcons to compete for a starting role with Marcus Mariota but never turned out to be anything crazy for the third rounder. The Falcons sent him to Arizona right after the Kirk Cousins signing.
The Colts are in a very weird spot, as they believe they have their future in Anthony Richardson, but his injury concerns just keep piling up. He is currently dealing with a shoulder injury with no timetable to return.
Daniel Jones is looking like the week one starter if these injuries continue, but Ridder could be a wild card to make the roster and compete for that spot. There is hope for Ridder to have a roster spot this season and the Colts could be that team.
Ridder still has a lot to prove and will need to step up if he wants to stay in the league.
