The Las Vegas Raiders may not have won many games over the past few seasons, but they remain a popular franchise around the league.
The Raiders have the benefit of having fans all along the West Coast, as they moved from Southern to Northern California before relocating again to Las Vegas.
While Las Vegas serves as the new home for the Silver and Black, the organization is still beloved among people in California. For example, athletes like Baron Davis, who grew up in Los Angeles, have fond memories of the Raiders when they were still in town.
Davis now gets an opportunity to work with his favorite team growing up, as he was recently named a TV host via Raiders.com:
Former NBA star Baron Davis, a longtime Raiders fan, is set to host Raiders: Talk of the Nation. Davis forged his allegiance to the Silver and Black while growing up in Los Angeles, where he followed the Raiders as the 1983 team gave the city its first World Championship of Professional Football with a win in Super Bowl XVIII.
The two-time NBA All-Star-turned-businessman and media personality will provide insight for the 30-minute sit-down interview series that explores the lifestyle, culture and community impact of the Silver and Black.
Davis issued a statement to express how he felt about the move and what he’s looking forward to:
“I’m super excited,” commented Davis about this opportunity to engage with members of the organization as well as Raider Nation. “As a fan and former athlete, it is going to be fun to be able to tap into players and coaches personalities.
“I’m especially excited to partner with the Raiders on this show because, as a basketball player, stepping into the world of football opens up an incredible opportunity to explore the powerful intersection of sports and culture,” Davis said. “This isn’t just a show about Raider Nation — it’s about the spirit of football, the passion of fandom and the strength of community. From both a fan’s perspective and a basketball player lens, it’s a first-of-its-kind project that truly bridges the gap between sports worlds.”
Davis brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the sports space as a former NBA star guard, and it’ll be exciting to see how he navigates his new life as a Raiders TV host.
Baron Davis is hardly the only celebrity who loves the Raiders, as famous rapper and actor Ice Cube routinely reps the franchise. Oshea Jackson recently discussed Ice Cube’s Silver and Black fandom and what it was like growing up seeing his dad root for his favorite team.
