
A former Nebraska Huskers football star was tragically killed in a car accident at 30 years old on Sunday.
Ex-Huskers star Chris Payton-Jones, who went on to have a successful career in the XFL and UFL, was killed in accident.
The accident took place on Saturday night and was confirmed on Sunday.
"Chris Payton-Jones, a former football star at Sandalwood High School who went on to play professionally and later returned to Jacksonville to become a mentor and successful content creator, passed away in an auto accident on Saturday night. Jones was 30 years old," News 4 Jacksonville reported.
"Tributes to Payton-Jones flooded social media Sunday as news of his death spread. Family members have confirmed his passing."

Payton-Jones had six interceptions during his time at Nebraska. He was a standout defensive back.
"Tragically lost his life in a car accident today, 3 months after he announced his UFL retirement. Prayers to his entire family," one fan wrote.
"Sandalwood Alumnus Football Player and Former NFL and UFL Player Chris Payton Jones was in this accident and unfortunately passed away last night. Been seeing posts this morning from people and it’s another awful loss from here. He’s been doing photography at HS games here," one fan added.
"Details are still developing. Thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and all those impacted during this difficult time," one fan added.
