Former NFL CB shares harsh takes about Packers' Jordan Love

A day after Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur insisted his confidence in quarterback Jordan Love is "not wavering one bit," former NFL cornerback and current ESPN personality Domonique Foxworth suggested the film shows otherwise.

"I think what makes it worse is when you watch the games, they call a game as if they don't believe in him," Foxworth said about Love during Tuesday's edition of the ESPN "Get Up" program. "And then when they give him a chance to throw the ball, he misses the target."

Much has been made about Love's inability to connect on deep passes amid Green Bay's three-game losing streak that dropped the club to 2-4. According to ESPN stats, the 24-year-old ended Week 7 ranked 17th among qualified players with a 49.8 adjusted QBR, 28th with a woeful 79.4 passer rating and 32nd with a 57.5% completion percentage on the season. In six games, he tossed 10 touchdown passes and seven interceptions.

"It all works in unison, so the better everybody is around him, the better he's going to look," LaFleur said about Love on Monday, per Rob Demovsky of ESPN. "...Certainly as the play-caller you put a lot of onus on yourself when things aren't going well, and we'll continue to do that, but we've got to find a way to generate more points because when you're generating points, it's just a totally different narrative."

The Packers signed Love this past offseason to a team-friendly contract extension that runs through the 2024 campaign and, as noted by Pro Football Talk, could allow the club to go in a different direction regarding the position as soon as this coming March. Needless to say, Love has thus far done little as a full-time QB1 to prove he's Green Bay's long-term replacement for Aaron Rodgers.

"If this is what we see for the rest of the season, they have no reason to bring him back," Foxworth added about Love. "If this is what we see for the rest of the season, there is no hope. There's nothing there."

Love and company will look to turn things around when the Packers host the 3-4 Minnesota Vikings this coming Sunday.
