A former Minnesota Vikings star has tragically passed away on Sunday. He was just 65 years old.

Joey Browner, a former NFL star defensive back for the Vikings, has passed away. He was a first round pick in the 1983 NFL Draft out of USC. He ended up becoming a standout player with the Vikings by his third season and would go on to make six Pro Bowls.

He was also a three-time First Team All-Pro selection also named to the Pro Football Hall of Fame’s All-1980s Team.

"We've lost a great friend and one of the best Vikings teammates," former Vikings star Steve Jordan said, via the Vikings’ website. "God blessed Joey with phenomenal talent and a big heart to love people and be a beacon of positivity. Truly, he will be missed."

The Vikings are saddened by his loss

"The Vikings are mourning the loss of Ring of Honor member Joey Browner, who passed away Saturday at the age of 65," the team announced.

"The news continued a somber weekend for the franchise. Browner's passing was announced Sunday, a day after the passing of Vikings middle linebacker Jeff Siemon, who earned placement in the 50 Greatest Vikings along with Browner in 2010.

"Browner will be deeply missed by former coaches and teammates, as well as many others he impacted throughout his life, including fellow Ring of Honor member Steve Jordan."

May he rest in peace.
