Former Police Officer Celebrates Tyreek Hill’s Release

Remember when wide receiver Tyreek Hill had the NFL world up in arms after his pregame arrest went viral?

Well, it seems that his arresting officer remembers it very clearly.

On September 8th, 2024, Tyreek Hill was detained in a traffic stop by the Miami-Dade Police. This would not usually be a big story, but unfortunately, the detainment occurred just a few hours before the week 1 kickoff for the Miami Dolphins. They were playing the Jacksonville Jaguars at 1 PM, Eastern time. Tyreek Hill was stopped by the officers due to traffic violations, being cited for illegal/reckless driving and a seatbelt violation.

Police officer Danny Torres was one of the men present at the stop. Whether right or wrong, Hill was not adhering to the aggressive officers’ request to step out of the vehicle. Hill was in the process of contacting his lawyer to say he was being unlawfully stopped. After multiple minutes of back and forth, the officers forcefully removed Tyreek Hill and brought him to the ground. The video and story went viral, causing backlash to the officers.

Now, over a year later, Tyreek Hill has been released by the Miami Dolphins. Torres, the officer who knelt and cuffed the receiver, took to social media in a post that comes off as gloating. The now-retired police officer took to Facebook with the following message:

“Hmmm… I guess it took a bit, but Karma got you. Now that I am retired I can tell you how I feel about you. You’re an entitled A**HOLE and an embarrassment to the team and city that kissed your a*s. I wish you the best and hope you are able to afford ALL that child support, especially now that you’re unemployed. But I’m sure someone will pick you up and you will cause havoc in their team and city. Just how you did in Miami.”

Though his retirement wasn’t directly related to this event, he was documented as receiving backlash for being aggressive and for using a show of strength to remove Hill from his vehicle.

Danny Torres was put on administrative leave after the events that unfolded that morning.

Tyreek Hill is a fantastic football player, but his off-field issues have been a problem his entire career. Danny Torres directly comments on that, mentioning his child support payments.

This situation ended with all charges against Tyreek Hill being dismissed in November of that year.

Now that Tyreek Hill is out of Miami and Danny Torres is retired from law enforcement, I doubt there will be any further clashes between them.
