When you retire, there is plenty of pressure to start throwing around hot takes. For former New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, he won't succumb to that too often, probably. Instead, he's a former player you can trust to mostly give his opinion without being too hyperbolic. Although, recent comments from Brees on the Philadelphia Eagles offensive struggles reached plenty of folks on social media.

Brees caught flak for his prior comments on the Eagles offense. Even Jeff Saturday, for whatever reason, attacked the legendary quarterback for his comments. Now, plenty of the NFL world agrees with Brees, and he's getting proven right on a weekly basis at the moment. His former top target on offense is backing him up, too.

Michael Thomas comments on Drew Brees' comments on Eagles "boring" offense

“I know Philly’s undefeated, but barely. Barely! If CeeDee [Lamb] catches a post in Week 1, and if the Rams make a chip-shot field goal, they’re sitting at 2-2. They are not the best team in the NFL.”

"I respect Philly, they are winning games... I can't stand to watch that offense. It's the most boring offense." -- Drew Brees on First Take on Sep. 23

The former superstar wideout for the Saints is in support of his former quarterback here. Brees was bold during September about the Eagles offense, and he hasn't shied away from his takes since then. The Saints legend believed that the Eagles were not the best team in the NFL, regardless of their success in the first month.

Thomas is pointing to the fact that Philadelphia is winless since these comments from Brees. The offense was absolutely boring when they started 4-0 out of the gates, but there is a clear difference between that unit for Philly compared to a season ago. Now, as the struggles become more of a trend and the injuries stack on defense, the lackluster offense is partially costing them games.

Philadelphia is proving Brees correct with lackluster production and frustration

Since his comments, the output for Jalen Hurts' offense has been less than ideal. The Eagles have scored 17 points in back to back weeks. In both matchups, their offense completely disappeared in the second half, basically. Against Denver, the Eagles scored seven points in the second half. Against new York, they were held scoreless.

It is also worth noting that the entire NFL world reacted at once when the Eagles ran four straight tush push plays in order to score in the second quarter against the G-Men. After that sequence, they never scored another point. Not a great look.

The reality is that Hurts' ability to push the ball to the sidelines and down the field have been put to the test recently, with the running game being slowed. He hasn't proven himself to be able to leap to that challenge, particularly when it matters most. The Eagles QB threw a back-breaking interception in the second half against New York, and his duo with A.J. Brown isn't running on all cylinders, whatsoever.

We will see if the coaching staff and offensive playmakers for the Eagles can make adjustments. For now, though, Brees looks a lot smarter for his "boring" take on their unit, compared to when they were undefeated to start the year.
