Former Tennessee Vols quarterback Joe Milton, a sixth round selection by the New England Patriots in the 2024 NFL Draft, made his first career pro start in the final week of the 2024 NFL regular season.

And Milton was quite impressive.

The former Vols quarterback led New England to a 23-16 win against the Buffalo Bills (which knocked the Patriots out of contention for the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft). Milton completed 22-of-29 passes for 241 yards, one touchdown, and zero interceptions. The Florida native also rushed for 16 yards and a touchdown.

Not only did Milton had a terrific showing in his first career start for the Patriots, he also made some NFL history.

According to NextGen stats, one of Milton's throws in the Patriots' win against the Bills was the second hardest throw in in NFL history (in the NextGen stats era).

If Milton started for an entire season, he'd probably have the top five hardest throws in NFL history.

Tennessee should've put Milton on the pitcher's mound when he was in Knoxville. I have no doubt that he could've touched triple digits.
