Former Tennessee Vols wide receiver Jauan Jennings has become known as "third-and-Jauan" among San Francisco 49ers fans thanks to his penchant for coming down with key receptions in gotta-have-it moments.

Jennings, who was selected by the 49ers in the 2020 NFL Draft, has earned a reputation in San Francisco as a tenacious blocker who will do whatever the team needs to secure a victory.
So it shouldn't be a surprise that Jennings isn't reveling in his newfound notoriety among the 49ers faithful -- he just sees it as part of the job.
AtoZ Sports 49ers writer Nicholas McGee caught up with Jennings in Las Vegas on Thursday and he asked the former Tennessee standout about the "third-and-Jauan" moniker.

"It just kind of plays out like that," said Jennings. "I just come in for third down, sometimes we got a passing situation [and] I'm going to come in as the third receiver. It's just been a long journey and it's a testament to the players and the coaches trusting me."
Jennings is the ultimate competitor who only cares about winning, not personal accolades or glory. He's a team-first guy and that's almost certainly one of the main reasons, along with his never-take-a-play-off mentality, that his 49ers teammates love him so much.
