Former Texas A&M Aggies defensive lineman is in custody of the United States Marshals Service and facing two counts of federal drug charges, Travis L. Brown of KBTX reports.
Henderson was reportedly arrested on March 18 and made his court appearance in Tyler the following day. He has now been charged with felony conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute a controlled substance and felony possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.
Brown adds that Henderson was assigned a public defender and waived his right to a detention hearing. The public defender did not respond to a request for comment.
Henderson played at A&M from 2014-17. In 47 career games with the Aggies, the Longview native had 116 tackles, 21.5 tackles for loss, 8.5 sacks, one forced fumble and two fumble recoveries.
In 2017, Henderson was arrested on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, tampering with evidence, and possession of less than two ounces of marijuana. He was accused of pointing a rifle at a woman in the parking lot of a nearby apartment complex and threatening to kill others. Police later detained him and found the rifle in a ditch near the complex with a round in the chamber.
The incident reportedly took place the night of the Aggies' end-of-season banquet.
According to KBTX, the Brazos County District Clerk's office no longer has documentation of that 2017 arrest, and the District Attorney's office could not provide any further details.
Shane Phelps, a legal analyst for KBTX, told Brown the records of the arrest have most likely been expunged. Those records can only be expunged if "charges were dismissed, a defendant was found not guilty in a trial, or the conviction was reversed on appeal."
“They must have just rejected the charge, and then somebody filed an expunction because if they reject the charge and it’s not expunged, there’d still be a record of his arrest,” Phelps said.
Henderson spent a short amount of time with the Cleveland Browns in 2018, but he didn't appear in any regular season games.
