The Tennessee Titans were abysmal during the 2024 NFL season, winning just three games and earning the No. 1 overall pick in the draft. One surprising bright spot, however, was the running back tandem of Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears.
While these two are still in tow for the Titans this season, as well as three-year veteran Julius Chestnut, new general manager Mike Borgonzi has shaken things up quite a bit around them.
In the sixth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, the team took Michigan running back Kalel Mullings. They also signed Ty Davis-Price during the offseason, but waived him earlier this week to make room for Jordan Mims.
Forgotten about in the Titans' running back room from last season is Jabari Small, who signed on with the team after going undrafted in 2024. The local product, who played collegiately for the Tennessee Volunteers, spent the year on the Titans' practice squad.
Small was waived in early May by the Titans, but on Friday, he earned a new opportunity with another NFL team. He signed with the Detroit Lions just ahead of the team starting training camp next week (via Jordan Schultz).
The Lions already have a lethal running back tandem of Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery, as well as a strong supporting back in Craig Reynolds. Small will be competing for a spot on the end of the roster or the practice squad once again.
He failed to be promoted to the active roster at any point last season, but Small will have another opportunity to do so in 2025.
