Free agent WR Allen Robinson wants Chiefs to sign him

Free agent wide receiver Allen Robinson saw an opportunity on Friday night, and he took it.

Just three plays into their season-opener against the Los Angeles Chargers on Friday night in Brazil, the Kansas City Chiefs lost wide receiver Xavier Worthy after he collided with tight end Travis Kelce.

The Chiefs were already thin at the position with Rashee Rice suspended, so Robinson offered his services.

Robinson, a second-round pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars in the 2014 NFL draft, was once among the league’s best receivers. He was named to the Pro Bowl in 2015 and led the league in receiving touchdowns that same season.

After four years with the Jaguars, Robinson bounced around the league, making stops with the Chicago Bears, Los Angeles Rams, Pittsburgh Steelers, New York Giants, and Detroit Lions.

In 139 career games (122 starts), Robinson has hauled in 565 receptions for 7,058 yards and 43 touchdowns. However, his last truly productive season came in 2020 as a member of the Bears.

The 32-year-old Robinson spent last year with the Lions, but caught just three passes for 30 yards.

The Chiefs have struggled at wide receiver since the departure of Tyreek Hill and are becoming increasingly thin at the position. And while Robinson may not be as spry as he once was, the veteran certainly couldn’t hurt to add.
