According to a report by Paul Walsh of the Star Tribune, Addison told a state trooper that the dog-related emergency was why he was driving at the speed he was. Addison received the citation early Thursday morning after the incident in his "luxury sports car" on I-94 in St. Paul.
The wideout issued an apology on Friday, saying he had "made a mistake and used poor judgment." Addison added "I recognize and own that. I am going to learn from this and not repeat the behavior. I am truly sorry."
Per Walsh's report, the 21-year-old was driving his 2021 Lamborghini Urus SUV with North Carolina dealer license plates.
Addison was selected with the 23rd overall pick out of USC as the fourth wide receiver off the board. The former Trojan is the No. 2 wideout on Minnesota's projected depth chart, though he hasn't practiced with the team yet due to an undisclosed injury that he picked up during rookie minicamp.
