Garrett Wilson Agrees to Significant 4-Year Contract Extension with New York Jets
- New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson (5) runs with the ball past Miami Dolphins cornerback Jalen Ramsey (5), Sunday January 5, 2025, in East Rutherford.

The New York Jets made sure wide receiver Garrett Wilson is not going anywhere and is locked in as a member of the team going forward. With the Jets looking to build their young core, they have officially signed him to a massive contract extension, making him one of the richest wide receivers in all of the National Football League. Let’s take a deeper dive into what the contract is and where it places Garrett Wilson.

Garrett Wilson Inks New Contract Extension

Garrett Wilson has officially signed a four-year, $130 million contract extension with the New York Jets, which includes $90 million guaranteed. This is the first time in NFL history that a receiver would get $30+ million per season after playing just three years. With this contract extension, he is now under contract with the Jets through the 2030 season.

This comes after last season where Garrett Wilson reportedly requested a trade from the franchise, but it seems the relationship has gotten better. Wilson has appeared in all 51 games since being drafted with the 10th pick in the 2022 NFL Draft and last season finished with career-highs across the board as he had 101 receptions on 151 targets for 1,104 yards (10.9 yards per catch) with seven receiving touchdowns. Now, paired with college teammate Justin Fields, the Jets are hoping Wilson can continue to dominate as the top wide receiver on the depth chart.

Now the question falls to the other 2022 first-round draft picks from the New York Jets as cornerback Sauce Gardner and linebacker Jermaine Johnson II have not had extensions agreed upon. This is a good sign for the young core of the team as he is now fifth in terms of average annual value of their contracts as only Ja’Marr Chase ($40.25 million), Justin Jefferson ($35 million), CeeDee Lamb ($34 million), and D.K. Metcalf ($33 million) make more per season. It will be intriguing to see if this is the only extension that the New York Jets get completed this offseason and how the team looks with a new regime in charge.
