The Philadelphia Eagles' starting No. 2 cornerback job is up for grabs this offseason, and Georgia Bulldogs product Kelee Ringo is the early favorite to win it.

According to Eliot Shorr-Parks, Ringo turned heads during mandatory minicamp, and if he keeps it up through training camp, he's an easy lock opposite second-year defensive backs Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean.

"Keele Ringo is battling for starting CB spot opposite Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean If he plays in training camp like he did on Tuesday he will be the starter in Week 1 Keele made a few plays that stood out and shows the advantage he has over other corners — size and speed," Schorr-Parks wrote on X/Twitter following mandatory minicamp.

In his first two NFL seasons, Kelee Ringo has mostly made his mark on special teams, racking up 645 snaps. His time at cornerback has been limited, with just five regular-season starts, four of them coming during his rookie campaign in 2023.

Though his defensive reps have been relatively scarce, Ringo says the game has started to slow down for him, and he feels more prepared than ever to take on a bigger role.

"The game is slowing down a lot more, for sure,” Ringo said. “When the game slows down, you can play a lot faster.”

The game slowing down has also allowed Ringo to study other positions, helping him gain a deeper understanding of both the defense and his responsibilities within it.

"Diving into playbook and learning other positions that aren’t even mine just to know where my help is," he added. "You understand your position and what the guy next to you is doing, you can play much faster."

Ringo’s road to earning a starting role won’t be without its challenges, especially following the Eagles’ offseason addition of veteran cornerback Adoree’ Jackson. Entering his ninth NFL season, Jackson arrives with a wealth of experience from his stints with the Tennessee Titans and New York Giants.

Luckily, Ringo isn’t new to learning from seasoned pros. Over the past two years, he’s had the benefit of working alongside veterans like Darius Slay, Isaiah Rodgers, Avonte Maddox, and James Bradberry.

And it has appeared to work out in his favor now that he's en route to a starting role.
