The New York Giants fired head coach Brian Daboll after a 2-8 start to the season. Initially, veteran quarterback Russell Wilson was named the team's starter, but Daboll quickly made the switch to rookie Jaxson Dart.
Dart was selected in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft after playing college football at USC and Ole Miss, and it didn't take long for him to become the Giants' QB1.
Against the Chicago Bears in Week 10, Dart suffered a concussion and was then replaced by Wilson.
He missed the Week 11 game against the Green Bay Packers, and Jameis Winston was then named the starter after Mike Kafka was named the interim head coach.
On Monday, Kafka gave another update on Dart's status.
"Jaxson's still in the [concussion] protocol, so I'm just going to see that through, talk with the medical, and when they give us a thumbs up, then we'll take the next action," Kafka said.

On Sunday, Winston went 19-of-29 for 201 yards with zero touchdowns and an interception. The Giants QB did score a touchdown on the ground, and running back Devin Singletary Jr. accounted for the team's other two scores in the losing effort.
It wasn't a bad outing by Winston, but Dart has accounted for both of the team's wins this season.
The first one came in Dart's first NFL start against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 4, and the other came two weeks later against the Philadelphia Eagles on "Thursday Night Football."
Dart was at practice on Friday, but as of Monday, he still remains in the concussion protocol, so the Giants are patiently waiting for him to be cleared.
New York faces the Detroit Lions on the road on Sunday.
