The New York Giants have made a move involving veteran kicker Graham Gano amid what has been a chaotic week.

Gano, who missed games due to a groin injury earlier this season, was placed on the injured reserve with a neck injury this Wednesday, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, which could mean the end of his career with the team.

The development comes in the wake of the Giants’ firing of head coach Brian Daboll earlier this week following a 2-8 run in 10 games.

As for Gano, the 38-year-old kicker disclosed last week that he was suffering from a herniated disc pressing up his spinal cord. He missed a 49-yard field goal against the San Francisco 49ers two Sundays ago, having felt discomfort in the buildup to the loss.

He was keen on playing against the Chicago Bears this past Sunday but was ruled out, with Younghoe Koo getting the nod. Koo scored on both of his attempts, from 32 and 19 yards, as well as his only extra-point.

Gano has played 23 games over the last three years.

"It's unbelievably frustrating," he said, per ESPN. "I mean, obviously all I want to do is play football. I can't control the injuries that have happened. It's not like I've done something that is out of the ordinary, like outside the building to hurt myself or anything. So, I think that's frustrating."

The former Pro Bowler's season ended prematurely due to a knee injury in 2023. He missed six games with a hamstring problem last season and was injured during warmups before a Week 3 loss against the Kansas City Chiefs in 2025.

Gano was placed on the injured reserve for four games and is now back after just two games.

The Giants will host the Green Bay Packers at MetLife Stadium this coming Sunday in what will be their first game since Daboll's dismissal.
