Giants' Cam Skattebo eager to encounter Eagles fans in Philadelphia

Earlier this week, New York Giants rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart said he is looking forward to being seen as a villain during Sunday's game against the division rival Philadelphia Eagles (5-2).

On Thursday, Giants first-year running back Cam Skattebo addressed his mindset heading into his first game at Philadelphia's Lincoln Financial Field as an opposing player.

Cam Skattebo "not too worried" about what he'll hear from Eagles fans

"I’m a thick-minded, thick-souled, thick-blooded person," Skattebo explained, per Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post. "I’m excited to see how different it actually is. I’m not too worried about the fan system bothering me in any way."

Pass-rusher Kayvon Thibodeaux repeatedly criticized Eagles fans he considers "idiots" during his time with the Giants. In 2023, he said his mom wore his jersey to a Giants game in Philadelphia and had to deal with "vulgar stuff going on in the stands."

Meanwhile, Skattebo ran for 98 yards and three touchdowns to help the Giants secure a surprising 34-17 victory over the Eagles at MetLife Stadium on Oct. 9. He knows how fans will react if he delivers another outstanding performance at "The Linc" in Week 8.

"You always are going to hear people talk crap," Skattebo continued. "If they do it better than others, props to them, but there is a respect level at some point. I’ve heard Philly has no respect when it comes to the stadium. It’s crazy people drinking beers and having fun, trying to have a good time, and win or lose, you’re either talking crap that we suck or talking crap that your team sucks. It’s just the way football goes."

Cam Skattebo challenges Giants fans for future home games

Skattebo appeared on the back page of Thursday's edition of Newsday after he flexed at the right moment during the New York Knicks' regular-season opener at Madison Square Garden on Wednesday night.

Skattebo hopes MetLife Stadium can eventually become a fortress for the Giants, just like MSG was for the Knicks on Wednesday.

"Your team is going to play harder if your fans are more involved," Skattebo said, per Tom Rock of Newsday. "Lighting up the city and getting activated and making sure everyone is at the game every Sunday . . .   We need the fans and the support system. The Knicks’ atmosphere was crazy. We need that atmosphere in our football stadium."

Skattebo and the rest of the 2-5 Giants will face a very different atmosphere on Sunday. As of Friday morning, ESPN BET had the Giants listed as 7.5-point underdogs against the Eagles.
