The New York Giants improved to 2-4 on the season via a surprising 34-17 win over the defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles on Thursday night. Shortly after, Giants rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart made it clear he wants to eliminate the "negativity" that has hovered over the franchise.
Giants running back and fellow rookie Cam Skattebo expanded on that mindset while speaking with reporters following the victory.
"Me and [Dart] do a lot of things on the side together, talk a lot together about kind of getting this turned around," Skattebo explained, according to Grant Gordon of NFL.com. "Not doing it on our own, but getting everyone to buy in and continue to stay positive and work to be better. The franchise has been a losing franchise the last couple years, but that's not who we are right now. We need to continue to build and build and build each and every day, and have these guys with positive mindsets, and get away from that losing mindset. We won the game tonight, and I felt that through these guys."
The Giants had gone 4-18 in regular-season play since September 2023 heading into Thursday's contest. Skattebo then rushed for 98 yards and three touchdowns against the Eagles, while Dart accounted for a pair of scores (one passing, one rushing) in the upset win.
Giants teammates previously noted how Skattebo has given the team a needed "spark" with his energy, personality and willingness to leave it all out on the field each time he plays. The whole "Cam Skattebo Experience" was on display in front of a primetime audience on Thursday:

Of course, two wins in six games won't save any franchise. Skattebo somewhat referenced that reality when he mentioned, "Continuing to build is what we need to do and play as a team," following Thursday's result.
"This is a season that we need to keep continuing to build on," Skattebo added, as shared by the Giants' website. "We're 2-4 right now, and there's a long season ahead of us."
Skattebo and Co. will get a chance to enjoy Thursday's victory before they have to begin preparing for the Week 7 matchup at the Denver Broncos on Oct. 19. The 3-2 Broncos will face the 0-5 New York Jets in London on Sunday.
