Giants' Daniel Jones addresses doing Netflix's 'Quarterback' show

New York Giants signal-caller Daniel Jones addressed a recent report that claimed he could be featured in the second season of Netflix's "Quarterback" docuseries.

"I’m not. I thought it was a great show," Jones explained during a Monday morning appearance on the WFAN "Boomer and Gio" program, according to Brandon Contes of Awful Announcing. "I really enjoyed watching it and seeing those three guys, their process and how they prepare, each one a little bit different. I thought it was a great show."

"NFL Today" analyst and WFAN host Boomer Esiason said last week that "somebody" told him Jones "may be in season two of 'Quarterback' next year." Kansas City Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes, Minnesota Vikings starter Kirk Cousins and current Philadelphia Eagles backup Marcus Mariota starred in the show's debut season, which proved to be quite a hit and served as Netflix's No. 1 program in July.

Jones guided a 2022 Giants squad that surprised many experts and fans to an unexpected playoff berth and a road postseason win at Minnesota before he signed a four-year contract this offseason that reportedly could be worth up to $160M. The controversial nature of that agreement combined with the fact that Jones is one of the faces of a New York franchise makes him, on paper, an ideal candidate for "Quarterback," but he left little doubt he's "not doing it" for at least the upcoming season.

"Yeah, I’ve been asked," Jones hesitantly acknowledged. "Like I said, I think it was a great show, I think they – you know – did a great job with it."

Jones is one of a handful of signal-callers who have said they're not participating in taping for the series produced by Peyton Manning's Omaha Productions company. Contes added that "it’s plausible to assume (Omaha Productions) would prefer to keep the list of four featured quarterbacks a secret while the documentary is being taped," so fans may remain in the dark regarding season No. 2 of "Quarterback" until some point this coming winter.
