The New York Giants are praying they can bounce back from their 0-2 start to the 2025 season. With a difficult matchup looming against the reigning AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday Night Football, they'll need any reinforcements they can get.

After today's practice, it sounds as if the Giants could get star left tackle Andrew Thomas back in their starting lineup. Head coach Brian Daboll opened his press conference today by sharing that they're increasing Thomas' reps in practice.

"[Andrew Thomas] will take more reps than he did last week," Daboll told reporters, "I'd say he'll take a good amount of reps today, so see where he is after today, but encouraged with where he's at."

Is Giants' LT Andrew Thomas finally ready?

Giants left tackle Andrew Thomas has missed the first two games of the 2025 season after he missed a majority of 2024 with a foot injury. The coaching staff has been extremely patient about bringing Thomas back, and emphasized wanting to avoid reinjury, so they have Thomas back for most of the year.

Because of the nature of the situation and the team's lack of success, Giant fans have been eager to see the gifted offensive lineman return to the field. Over the two weeks leading up to the first two games, Thomas participated in practice but was later listed as doubtful on the final injury report. During today's practice, Thomas was a limited participant, but it's believed he'll ramp up more this week.

The Athletic's Dan Duggan posted on X that Daboll's comments indicated there's a much higher chance that Thomas will play against the Chiefs.

It's been a struggle for the Giants to find effective offensive linemen for well over a decade. Thomas' development into one of the best left tackles in the NFL has created a glimmer of hope. However, Giants fans have been hit with a sick twist of fate because he's missed a lot of time with various injuries.

Per Statmuse, the Giants are just 5-18 when they are without Thomas. Additionally, their passing yards per game is a measly 198.3 with only 19 touchdowns and 16 interceptions when Thomas is out of the lineup. When they have Thomas, that number improves to 205.6 with 55 touchdowns and 46 interceptions.

This season, the Giants' offensive line has been shaky as usual. Through two games, they've allowed five sacks and are third in pressures allowed at 37. Their QB pressure rate allowed is the fifth-worst in the NFL at 41.1%.

If Thomas plays this Sunday, it should do wonders for improving the passing attack and overall offensive performance. Hopefully, today's news isn't just smoke to throw off the Chiefs and is an actual step in the right direction.
