Giants HC Joe Judge says headsets went out vs. Chiefs: 'This has been happening in every game so far'

Down by just three points with 1:07 left in the fourth quarter of their "Monday Night Football" game against the Kansas City Chiefs, the New York Giants were already out of timeouts at the start of their possession. Quarterback Daniel Jones' last-minute attempt to lead a game-tying or game-winning drive on the road fizzled out quickly, as the Giants gained three yards before taking a pair of sacks and eventually turned the ball over on downs, which secured the Chiefs' 20-17 win.

Now 2-6 and buried in a tie for last place in the NFC East, there have been a bevy of reasons for New York's failed first half of the campaign, one of them being poor clock management from head coach Joe Judge. The Giants' second-year lead man told reporters following the loss that there's a good reason why the team didn't have any timeouts for the final drive on Monday.

"The headsets were going out," Judge said, via NJ.com. "This has been happening in every game so far. We deal with the league and they keep telling us about different software updates or whatever it is."

Judge went on to explain that the team was forced to burn two timeouts in the first half just in order to make the correct substitutions and play calls because the staff's headsets weren't functioning properly.

"That's the issue right there," Judge said. "We are trying to make the right call. ... We have to make sure the hardware is working. So whatever the issue with that is, the people involved better get it fixed fast."

The 39-year-old former New England Patriots special teams coach added that the staff tried going back to old equipment during the contest, but "they told us we weren't allowed to do it for whatever reason."

The Giants will host the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 9 at 1:00 p.m. ET on Sunday before taking their bye in Week 10.
