Sauce Gardner is regarded as the top cornerback prospect in the upcoming NFL Draft, which means he could end up as a top-10 pick. And there is a good chance he will land on one of two teams.
The New York Jets and New York Giants hold four of the first 10 picks in this year’s draft. According to SNY’s Ralph Vacchiano, both teams have “strong interest” in Gardner.
Both the Jets and Giants met with Gardner at the NFL Combine and have plans to bring him in for one of their top-30 predraft visits.
The Giants hold picks No. 5 and No. 7, while the Jets have picks No. 4 and No. 10.
The Giants reportedly are open to trading cornerback James Bradberry. Drafting Gardner at one of their two high picks would give them a perfect replacement for the 2020 Pro Bowler.
The Jets probably recognize Gardner might not be available to them at No. 10, but would they feel No. 4 is too high for him? That’s part of their conundrum.
Gardner had 40 tackles, three sacks and three interceptions last season for Cincinnati. He had nine interceptions during his career with the Bearcats.
