The New York Giants got a week off from the mundanity of their lost season, entering the bye at 2-8 with five consecutive losses turning Sundays into a chore.
Perhaps that streak reached six after New York functionally lost its bye week.
While the rival Dallas Cowboys won’t play until Monday Night Football, Week 11 was not kind to the Giants.
They entered the week in sole possession of the second-overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Subsequently, they needed several teams to lose to assist their draft standing.
Among the team’s New York was rooting for on Sunday included the Jacksonville Jaguars, Cleveland Browns, Tennessee Titans, Las Vegas Raiders, New York Jets, and New England Patriots.
Between those six teams, the Giants could have landed as high as the first-overall pick or earned breathing room to tighten their grip on a top-two selection.
As this season would have it, nothing broke their way.
The Jaguars were outgained by 475 yards in a blowout loss to the Detroit Lions. The Minnesota Vikings made light work of the Titans, and while the Patriots made the Los Angeles Rams sweat, they too fell short. The Raiders were predictably blown out by the Miami Dolphins, Taysom Hill trampled the Browns, and the Jets failed to mount a comeback against the Indianapolis Colts.
Six opportunities to find a favorable outcome and zero successes defines New York’s season well.
Now, as New York waits for Dallas to finish off Week 11, it will watch with the fifth pick in its possession, tied at 2-8 with three other teams.
The Giants’ tank will continue in Week 12 when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers hope for a get-right game in MetLife Stadium.
