Giants might have to start fourth LG in 4 games with Ben Bredeson hurt

In what's already a worrisome trend for the 0-3 New York Giants, things continue to get worse for their offense as September comes to a close.

According to Jordan Raanan of ESPN, Giants left guard Ben Bredeson suffered a hand injury in this past Sunday's loss to the Atlanta Falcons and could "miss time." Raanan added this update explains why New York signed guard Wes Martin off the Washington Football Team practice squad on Monday.

It's the latest brutal blow for an offensive line that hasn't been able to stay intact since Sept. 12. As Josh Alper wrote for Pro Football Talk, Shane Lemieux started at left guard for the Week 1 contest against the Denver Broncos but has since had season-ending knee surgery. Popular undrafted offensive lineman and team captain Nick Gates got the nod at the position for the Week 2 game at Washington but went down to a gruesome leg fracture that could threaten his career.

Alper noted either Matt Skura or Matt Peart could start at guard for New York's road outing at the New Orleans Saints this Sunday.

Per ESPN stats, the Giants offense is 25th in scoring and averaging only 18.7 points per game. Many are calling for head coach Joe Judge to show offensive coordinator Jason Garrett the door, but there's little Garrett or Judge can do about the team losing at least one offensive lineman per week.
