The New York Giants confirmed on Friday that Jaxson Dart has been ruled out for Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers. The rookie QB is set to miss his first game after being placed under the NFL’s concussion protocol.
Dart suffered a head injury in New York’s 24-10 loss to the Chicago Bears in Week 10. He exited the contest at the end of the third quarter and was ultimately ruled out for the remainder of the game after being diagnosed with a concussion. The Giants announced that Jameis Winston will start in Dart’s place against Green Bay, with Russell Wilson serving as the backup.
Dart’s strong rookie campaign came to a halt due to a concerning head injury. There was some optimism that he would not miss time because of the issue, but the fact that he has yet to clear the concussion protocol will force Dart to sit out at least one game.
In nine games played this season, the first-round quarterback has registered 128-of-204 completed passes (62.7%) for 1,417 yards and 10 passing touchdowns. Dart also has 57 carries for 317 yards and seven rushing TDs.
On Friday, Dart took to social media to share an update away from football. In 2024, the former Ole Miss Rebels star signed a historic NIL deal with membership-based private company Nicholas Air. As part of the deal, Dart was provided access to the company’s full fleet of jets for his own personal use.
Dart announced on Friday that he’s back for another round of Nicholas Air’s holiday donation drive for the kids.
"What's up, guys? Jaxson Dart here," he said. "Last year, I had the opportunity to be a part of the Nicholas Air 'Stuff the Plane Teddy Bear Drive,' where we personally delivered bears to the children at Children's of Mississippi.
“This year, even though I'm a little far from Mississippi, I'll still be participating and want to remind you that you can, too. Visit the link in my bio to contribute. All proceeds will go to Children's Hospital."
Dart also revealed that one lucky donor will win a signed football from him. One signed teddy bear will also be given to a child. “Let's bring some smiles to kids this Christmas," he said.
As for his football, Dart’s next chance to play will be in Week 12 when the Giants return to action for a matchup against the Detroit Lions. He will, however, need to clear the NFL’s concussion protocol before he is able to get the green light to take the field.
