New York Giants quarterback Jaxson Dart is no stranger to the NFL’s concussions tests. In addition to suffering a concussion last season against the Chicago Bears on Nov. 9, the Giants were fined $200,000 for violating concussion protocol with Dart in the blue tent in their Oct. 26 game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Dart once again found himself in the blue medical tent Saturday night in the Giants’ preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings. Dart, who plays a physical brand of football, admitted postgame that he is ‘puzzled’ by the NFL’s concussion tests.
“I really respect the rules and the thought behind what the NFL has of keeping players healthy and reviewing things,” Dart said. “At the same time, I’m still puzzled by it just feeling like every time that I get hit, I find my way in there.”
The Giants quarterback went to the tent after being sacked by Vikings safety Jay Ward near the end of the first quarter. He, however, later returned to the game. He completed 3/4 passes for 26 yards and one score.
Dart heads into his sophomore season after assuming Giants QB1 duties midway through the 2025 season. As a rookie, the Ole Miss alum passed for 2,272 yards and 15 touchdowns with just five interceptions. He also rushed for 487 yards and nine touchdowns. With best friend and starting running back Cam Skattebo returning from his dislocated ankle, expectations are high for the Giants offense this season.
The Giants bolstered their offense with the return of wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. in free agency. OBJ started his career in New York, and starred for the Giants from 2014-2018. There, he was named the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year and was a two-time All-Pro. Beckham Jr. is looking to record his first 600-plus yard receiving season since 2019, which came with the Cleveland Browns.
“Just even warming up and seeing everybody, it’s a surreal feeling,” Beckham said after Saturday’s preseason game. “It’s been a long time coming, so I’m just excited and trying to stay in the moment and be where my feet are at and make plays.”
“It’s a blessing to be out there, it’s a blessing to be healthy. But I thought for a second it was about time to get back in that end zone.”
