If the New York Giants turn to rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart on Sunday, it sounds like he’ll have Malik Nabers at his disposal.
Giants coach Brian Daboll confirmed on Thursday that Nabers, a 2024 Pro Bowl selection, will be a full practice participant while recovering from a back injury. Nabers caught five passes for 71 yards, including a 25-yard snag, in last Sunday’s 21-6 loss to the Washington Commanders.
ESPN’s Jordan Raanan posted on X/Twitter that Wan’Dale Robinson (ankle) also returned to practice. Robinson, who had six catches for 55 yards in Week 1, did not practice on Wednesday.
Left tackle Andrew Thomas (foot) and linebacker Micah McFadden (foot) also sat out Wednesday, as did two-time second-team All-Pro linebacker Dexter Lawrence. However, Lawrence did not practice with a personal issue.
What an adjustment by Malik Nabers!

We won’t go so far as to say that the Giants can’t beat the Cowboys without Nabers, but his presence certainly won’t hurt. Nabers has emerged as one of the NFL’s budding young star receivers despite the Giants’ continued quarterback problems, an issue not helped by Daboll’s apparent initial reluctance to name Russell Wilson the Week 2 starter.
Although Wilson will start against Dallas, we won’t be surprised if Daboll eventually turns to Dart. The Giants’ offense looked lethargic and lost in Week 1, only managing 231 yards and going a combined 6-of-18 on third- and fourth-downs. Wilson went 17-of-37 for 179 yards, though he at least rushed for 44 yards on eight carries.
At this point in Wilson’s career, it’s unfortunate that we need to cite an effective rushing performance as the lone positive. That alone might be enough for Daboll to yank the 10-time Pro Bowler and hand the reins to Dart.
Either way, the Giants should be optimistic they’ll take the field with Nabers ready to carve through the Cowboys’ defense. We’ll see whether Dart benefits or if he’ll instead spend Sunday afternoon standing next to Daboll.
