Giants Sign 2 After Trying Out 18 Players Monday

The New York Giants held tryouts for 18 players Monday — roughly a third of an NFL roster — and decided to sign a pair.

The Giants added defensive lineman Marlon Davidson and tight end Tyler Moore on the eve of training camp Monday.

New York had 18 players try out, including quarterback Jake Haener, for roster spots in East Rutherford before trekking southwest to The Greenbrier for the start of training camp.

The Giants signed two though, adding Davidson, a second-round pick of the Atlanta Falcons from the 2020 NFL Draft and the undrafted 6-foot-5 Moore, who played collegiately at Iowa State.

The Giants are trying to find Dexter Lawrence's replacement, especially given the unlikeliness of Roy Robertson-Harris playing in 2026 after he tore his Achilles tendon in OTAs in May.

They brought in three nose-tackle candidates, including Queens-native Foley Fatukasi. But they decided on Davidson, who was Fatukasi's teammate with the Houston Texans for one game last season.

Davidson has played just 25 games, starting four, over his six NFL seasons. But he only played one game, and recorded one tackle, in 2025 for the No. 1 rated defense in Houston.

Moore played 45 games over five seasons at Iowa State, registering 21 catches for 245 yards and two touchdowns for the Cyclones.

The Giants Activated Two From the PUP List

The Giants started Tuesday with four tight ends on their active roster, but that number ballooned to six after they signed Moore then announced they activated Tom Fidone II from the physically unable to perform list.

Fidone was one of three Giants players who found his name on the PUP list earlier this week with a lingering injury. The 2025 seventh-round pick played just 14 offensive snaps but instead posted one tackle in seven games while primarily playing special teams.

The Giants' D-tackle depth also picked up, since they activated Sam Roberts from the PUP list Tuesday too. The 2022 sixth-round pick, who had one sack and 18 tackles in five games for the Atlanta Falcons, was recovering from an offseason surgery.

Robertson-Harris remains the lone player on the PUP list as training camp practices open Wednesday in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.

The veteran D-lineman tore his Achilles tendon during OTAs, and the Giants are holding out hope he can return at some point in 2026, which is why they have not placed him on injured reserve.
