Giants sign 6th overall pick to $29 million rookie deal

The Giants kicked off minicamp on Friday afternoon, spotlighting their explosive new offensive playmaker, Malik Nabers.

After a remarkable season at LSU, where he tallied 1,568 yards and 14 touchdowns, Nabers is eager to make his mark in New York. He excelled with 589 yards after the catch, averaging 6.6 per reception. Splitting his time between the slot (53.6% of snaps) and outside (46%), Nabers has proven himself versatile and ready to contribute wherever the Giants need him.

Quarterback Daniel Jones will benefit from improved offensive line protection and now has his best receiving weapon since being drafted. With the team moving on from Odell Beckham Jr. shortly after Jones was selected, the Giants have struggled to provide him with a top-tier receiver. However, this season may be Jones’s last opportunity to prove himself, especially coming off an ACL tear.

Nabers Signs Rookie Contract, Boosts Giants’ Offense

Nabers signed his rookie contract on Friday, a guaranteed four-year deal worth $29.2 million, including an $18 million signing bonus. As a first-round pick, his contract includes a fifth-year option. The Giants hope Nabers will be an offensive powerhouse for the next decade, providing Jones and the team a chance to end their offensive struggles.

Nabers’s presence will also create opportunities for teammates Wan’Dale Robinson, Jalin Hyatt, and Darius Slayton. His ability to draw defenders’ attention will allow head coach Brian Daboll to scheme other receivers open using deception and creativity. With a player of Nabers’s caliber on the roster, the Giants are well-positioned to move the ball effectively downfield this season.
