Giants Sign Jaxson Dart's College Teammate Amid Injury Issues at Wide Receiver

The wide receiver position wasn't supposed to be an area of concern for the New York Giants this season.

Malik Nabers had already established himself as an elite option after just one season while Darius Slayton and Wan'Dale Robinson were seen as good enough options behind him for the Giants' passing game to operate as the team was hoping.

Now Nabers is out for the rest of the season and Slayton is dealing with an injury of his own that forced him to miss the team's Week 6 win over the Eagles.

Facing their injury issues at the position, the Giants recently began looking for some help and have become a team expected to pursue a trade for a receiver ahead of the deadline.

While no trades have materialized for them yet, the Giants have made an addition at receiver.

Giants.com's Dan Salomone revealed that the team was signing Juice Wells Jr., who played alongside Jaxson Dart at Ole Miss during the 2024 season and spent the preseason with the Giants, to the practice squad.

Wells' college career started strong. He began at James Madison and put up 116 catches for 1853 yards and 21 touchdowns during his two seasons with the Dukes.

He then transferred to South Carolina and continued to impress. In his first year with the Gamecocks, Wells made 68 catches for 928 yards and six TDs. His efforts earned him All-SEC honors.

Wells was unfortunately limited to just three games in 2023 because of an injury. When he returned from the injury, he transferred to Ole Miss where he played alongside Dart.

Getting the ball to Wells wasn't exactly a priority for Dart during their one season together at Ole Miss. His 28 catches and 553 yards were both fourth best for the Rebels last season.

He ended up going undrafted, but was picked up by the Giants.

Wells appeared in all three of the Giants' 2025 preseason games and made four catches for 24 yards on eight targets.

It wasn't enough for him to claim a spot on the team's final roster, but he will now get another shot to carve out a spot for himself with the Giants as they deal with their wide receiver injuries.
