Gillette Stadium has social distancing markers set up for possible return of fans

The New England Patriots have not been allowed to host fans during their first two home games of the 2020 season due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, it seems like that may soon change.

According to Ian Steele of ABC6 News, social distancing markers have been set up around Gillette Stadium, signaling that fans may soon be welcomed back.

If the Patriots do welcome fans back, they're likely to give long-time season-ticket holders priority access to purchase tickets -- similar to what the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are doing.

Fans have not been allowed at sporting events in Massachusetts since the pandemic became a threat in March. The state government has enacted a very specific phased reopening plan. If fans do return soon, it'll be because the state has managed to keep COVID-19 numbers down.

If and when fans are welcomed back to Gillette Stadium, they'll be getting their first in-person look at a Patriots squad who is without Tom Brady for the first time in 20 years.
