LOS ANGELES — Tom Brady is back under center, but he won’t have a pass rush to worry about today. The seven-time Super Bowl champion officially returns to competitive play at BMO Stadium for the inaugural Fanatics Flag Football Classic. This round-robin tournament pits Brady and Jalen Hurts against Joe Burrow’s “Wildcats” and the reigning World Champion U.S. National Flag Football team in a high-speed preview of the 2028 Olympic format.

The Rosters: Stars, Legends, and Speedsters

The draft is locked. At the heart of the “Founders” squad, Tom Brady reunites with Rob Gronkowski, proving some connections never fade. They’re joined by Eagles signal-caller Jalen Hurts and a backfield featuring Raiders breakout Ashton Jeanty and veteran Alvin Kamara. On the outside, DeVonta Smith and Stefon Diggs provide the vertical speed needed for the compact 50-yard field.

Across the sideline, Joe Burrow and Jayden Daniels lead the “Wildcats.” This roster leans heavily on current NFL elite, including Saquon Barkley and Davante Adams. Jalen Ramsey anchor’s the defense, while social media icons Logan Paul and IShowSpeed add a wildcard element to the substitution rotation. Notably, Vikings safety Harrison Smith joined the squad late Friday as an injury replacement for Derwin James Jr.

  • Founders FFC: Brady, Hurts, Jeanty, Kamara, Gronkowski, Winfield Jr., D. Smith, Diggs, Miller, Hamlin, Peterson, Crawford.
  • Wildcats FFC: Burrow, Daniels, Barkley, Juszczyk, Beckham Jr., Adams, Hopkins, H. Smith, Kuechly, Ramsey, Paul, Speed.
  • Team USA: Led by Darrell “Housh” Doucette III and Aamir Brown.

“I texted Joe and Jayden. I told them I love beating Heisman winners. I’m just happy Jayden’s mom let him play today after that season he had. I’m here to remind these young guys who the boss is.”

The Road to LA28

While the NFL stars grab the headlines, the real threat is Team USA. Led by Darrell Doucette III, the national squad has won five consecutive world titles. Doucette famously claimed his “football IQ” in the flag game surpasses that of Patrick Mahomes, and today offers him the chance to back up that talk against Brady and Burrow. The tournament utilizes the 5-on-5 Olympic rules—non-contact, no blocking, and constant motion.

This event serves as more than just a celebrity exhibition. With flag football set for its Olympic debut in Los Angeles just two years from now, NFL scouts and Olympic organizers are watching these 15-minute halves closely. For Jayden Daniels, today is a vital health check. After a 2025 season derailed by knee and elbow injuries, the Commanders’ franchise QB looked fluid in warm-ups, zipping passes into tight windows during morning drills. The sun is out, the stadium is buzzing, and the transition from tackle to flag has officially reached the mainstream.
