There were zero NBA, MLB, NHL, and, of course, NFL games on Wednesday, but there was the 2025 ESPYs, which somehow found a target in former Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, thanks to comedian Shane Gillis.

The “Tires” actor did the monologue for the ESPYs, and let’s just say that it was anything but universally acclaimed.

Gillis roasted a lot of personalities. A lot. And among those who got burned was none other than Rodgers.

Via Christian Arnold of the New York Post:

And he poked fun at Aaron Rodgers’ tenure with the Jets and the future Pro Football Hall of Famer’s reluctance to get vaccinated during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Aaron Rodgers did not take the vaccine because he predicted that it would be bad for him and then he joined the New York Jets. So maybe he wasn’t right about everything,” he said.

Aside from Rodgers, other sports personalities that Gillis roasted were Indiana Fever superstar guard Caitlin Clark, Oklahoma City Thunder star and NBA MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, New York Mets outfielder Juan Soto and even former New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick.

Over the past years, Rodgers has developed a reputation that’s tied to conspiracy theories, which has arguably damaged his image beyond football.

In any case, Rodgers is focused on football these days, as he looks to help the Pittsburgh Steelers, the team he beat in the Super Bowl before. He signed a one-year contract with the Steelers, who have gone 10-7 in each of the last two seasons, during which they made the NFL playoffs twice but did not progress past the wild-card round.
