Uncertainty is in the air regarding the future of running back Brian Robinson Jr. with the Washington Commanders, and that has led to trade speculations linking him to several teams, including the Green Bay Packers.
Robinson may have already played his final game with the Commanders, and with the final roster cuts looming, Washington could ultimately decide to send him away in exchange for whatever asset (or assets) they could squeeze from an interested party.
Robinson, who was taken in the third round of the 2022 NFL draft by the Commanders, is entering the final year of his current contract that will pay him north of $3.4 million in the 2025 campaign.
Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network recently shared that teams with interest in the former Alabama Crimson Tide star running back have begun asking questions regarding Robinson’s status.
Via Garafolo:
“There’s certainly interest in #Commanders RB Brian Robinson Jr. from other teams, as they’re asking questions about why he fell out of favor in Washington and what kind of fit he might be for them.”
The Packers have a clear-cut No. 1 option on the ground in the form of another former Crimson Tide running back. Josh Jacobs, fresh off a 1,329 rushing-yard campaign in 2024, remains the undisputed RB1 for Green Bay.
However, the health of oft-injured MarShawn Lloyd brings some concern about the Packers’ insurance behind Jacobs. Robinson is an option for the Packers, though it remains to be seen whether they would actually go for it ahead of the 2025 season.
In three seasons with the Commanders, Robinson rushed for 2,329 yards and 15 touchdowns on 570 carries through 41 games (37 starts).
