Two seasons under his belt, 24 years old, Los Angeles Rams receiver Puka Nacua is nothing less than a stud. Now he has former Green Bay Packers receiver Davante Adams down there to help him. The 11-year veteran has already made his presence felt. For Nacua, who is always looking to grow his game, it might as well be Christmas.

Green Bay Packers All-Time Target Is Helping Puka Nacua Reach New Levels in LA

At this point, it’s been a while since Adams donned a Packers jersey – four years. After two characteristically dominant seasons in Las Vegas, injuries hampered his 2024 campaign as he put up his fewest yards and receptions since 2019. His reunion with Aaron Rodgers in New York did not deliver as in days past.

Even then, Adams still got to 85 catches and 1000 yards between the Raiders and Jets. Not bad for a down year.

While slowing down, the 32-year-old is still a monster when healthy. In the offseason, the Rams signed him to a two-year, $44 million contract. In the early going, it’s looking like a superb addition.

“Davante, as soon as he stepped into the facility, has been fantastic,” Nacua beamed. “The ability to learn the game from another all-time great…I feel like I’m stealing. I’m like a kid in a candy store. I’ve had Matthew Stafford, Sean McVay, Cooper Kupp, and now Davante Adams. My life is pretty good. I can’t complain too much. It’s gonna be fun.”

As Nacua details, having a Hall of Fame-worthy quarterback, an elite offensive coach, and at least one great veteran receiver as his disposal is an advantage not all young players get. A human wrecking ball after the catch, he’s pretty good himself. Nacua has amassed 184 catches, 2,466 receiving yards, and nine touchdowns in 28 career games. Before battling through his own injuries last season, he made the Pro Bowl as a rookie.

Rams’ Dynamic Duo Could Make Packers Fans Nostalgic for Old Davante Adams Clips

“17’s going to lead the way for us and it’s going to be fantastic being out there on the football field with him,” Nacua said of his new mentor and fellow target. Speaking to NFL Network’s Ian Rappoport, he highlighted route-running as the biggest area of impact regarding Adams’ teaching.

“His ability to change pace while he’s moving, the ability to win against negative leverage, his suddenness at the line of scrimmage. It’s fantastic to be able to see it in person and be lining up right next to him, it makes you make sure you have all the gas turned on when you’re going out there with number 17.”

Between Nacua and Adams, who replaces the declining and ultimately released Kupp, Stafford has a pair of top-tier targets. Benefitting from Adams’ wisdom, Nacua should reach even greater heights.

“When you watch him win against negative leverage, it gives you confidence. You start trying new things, working new techniques. His ability to move defenders – all over the football field – is awesome to see. I can’t wait to see it live in action.”
