The Micah Parsons era is starting for the Green Bay Packers, and everyone in Green Bay can’t wait to see him in action on the field. Once he does, Packers supporters will witness him hunting for opposing quarterbacks while donning a uniform many of them didn’t think he’d wear.
Aside from a change of scenery for the former Penn State Nittany Lions star pass rusher, Parsons will also be wearing a new number. Parsons will be carrying the No. 1 going forward, shedding his old number, the No. 11, which he wore during his four seasons with the Dallas Cowboys.
Following Parsons’ trade to Green Bay, the Packers revealed Parsons’ new jersey number via a post on social media.
“First No. 1 in GB in 99 years,” the post’s caption read.
What’s with the 99 years? Well, one will have to go back all the way to the 1920s to check out the last Packers player to don the No. 1 jersey.

Via Jasmyn Wimbish of CBS Sports:
In fact, no Packers player has worn the No. 1 jersey since 1926, and there’s only been one player to don that number: team founder, former player and coach for the Packers, Curly Lambeau. When the Packers were founded in 1919 by Lambeau and George Calhoun, Lambeau wore the number while playing 10 years for the team. He earned All-Pro honors three times during his 10-year career, won an NFL championship with the Packers in his final year where he served as a player-coach, and following his retirement proceeded to lead Green Bay to five more titles.
Parsons was traded to the Packers by the Cowboys after a long offseason saga between the two parties.
In return, Dallas got two first-round picks (2026 and 2027) and veteran defensive tackle Kenny Clark.
