The Green Bay Packers’ chances to win the Super Bowl in the 2025 NFL season got a major shot in the arm when they landed perennial Pro Bowler Micah Parsons via a trade with the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday. With Parsons in the fold, the Packers’ defense has arguably the most dangerous defensive threat in the NFL today.
However, there could be some rust when Parsons makes his debut for the Packers. Because of his holdout with the Cowboys, the former Penn State Nittany Lions star pass rusher hasn’t participated in a lot of team practices in the offseason.
With the Packers scheduled to kick off their 2025 NFL campaign on Sept. 7 against the Detroit Lions at Lambeau Field, there are questions about whether Parsons will be ready to give it a go on the field despite limited preparation.
On Friday, Parsons finally spoke to the media for the first time since the stunning trade on Thursday. A lot was shared by the four-time Pro Bowler during his time behind the podium, including a hint that he’ll be ready for action from the get-go of the 2025 season.
Via Matt Schneidman of The Athletic:
Micah Parsons said the Packers didn’t bring him here to sit on the sidelines, so sounds like he’ll be playing in nine days against the Lions.
Parsons still has several days to get acclimated to his new environment. It will be interesting to see how good his performance will be in his Green Bay debut, but what’s certain is the ton of attention that he’ll get once he steps on the field in new threads.
