Green Bay Packers’ Most Underrated Player For 2024, Revealed

As the Green Bay Packers prepare for the upcoming 2024 NFL season, many believe that they are legitimate Super Bowl contenders. Following an impressive run to the playoffs last season after trading Aaron Rodgers, the hype is rising surrounding the proud franchise. Jordan Love is expected to take another big step to join the NFL’s elite quarterbacks and the roster as a whole is young and expected to develop nicely.

Looking at the Packers’ roster, it’s hard to see many weaknesses. Brian Gutekunst and the front office have built things nicely and added a lot of great young talent in the 2024 NFL Draft as well.

In a recent article, Pro Football Focus revealed who the team’s most underrated player is heading into the 2024 NFL season. Unsurprisingly, it’s one of Love’s top targets.

Dontayvion Wicks, the second-year wide receiver out of Virginia, was named the team’s most underrated player. Here’s why Pro Football Focus had to say about their pick.

“There are multiple candidates here, considering the Packers’ young, ascending offense, but second-year receiver Dontayvion Wicks finished as Green Bay’s highest-graded receiver in 2023 (77.8). The then-rookie was playing at a high level toward the second half of the season, earning an 83.6 PFF overall grade from Week 11 onward, which ranked 10th among wide receivers. He caught 95.1% of his catchable targets in 2023, which ranked second among all wide receivers.”

No one could say that this wasn’t a great pick by the PFF team. Wicks was certainly a sleeper pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and he did not disappoint.

Throughout the course of the 2023 NFL season, Wicks ended up catching 39 passes for 581 yards and four touchdowns. He came on strong at the end of the year. Green Bay Packers fans should expect to see an even more improved version of their young wideout in 2024.

Add in the fact that Wicks will have four great receiver options around him to take defensive pressure off him, and things look even better. Green Bay also features Christian Watson, Romeo Doubs, Jayden Reed, and Bo Melton at the wide receiver position.

It will be interesting to see what Dontayvion Wicks has in store for the Green Bay Packers in 2024. He has already shown flashes of potential stardom and fans should expect to see more of the same this season.
