Just because it’s the NFL offseason, it does not mean that the rivalry between the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears also stops.
Last June, Bears quarterback Caleb Williams appeared to take a shot at Packers fans over the treatment he and his team got from Green Bay fans during Chicago’s 24-22 win in Week 18 at Lambeau Field.
“Probably Green Bay,” Williams said when asked at the Fanatics Fest about which fans gave him a negative experience (h/t Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk). “I mean, they suck. After the game, after we won at Lambeau — 1-0 at Lambeau — we tried to do the Lambeau Leap, tried to jump into the crowd where our fans were. [Packers fans] just started throwing everything at you, push you off. The Lambeau Leap, it’s a real leap. It’s not a little baby jump, you actually have to high jump, basically. And they’re pushing you, pushing your face.”
The Packers had their backups playing most of that game, with quarterback Jordan Love leaving early because of injury and running back Josh Jacobs getting a light workload. Williams passed for 148 yards and a touchdown with zero interceptions on 21-of-29 completions.
During an appearance on Tuesday on the NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football,” Packers offensive tackle Rasheed Walker was asked for his thoughts on what Williams said a month earlier.
Walker must have hit a painful spot on the Bears, as he brought up Chicago’s lack of playoff success while also issuing a subtle warning that should add more spice to the two regular-season meetings in 2025 between the two rivals.
“Hey, man, they got lucky,” Walker said. “You know what I’m saying? Make the playoffs. That’s all I got to say. They got lucky. Make the playoffs, and we’re going to see them again this year and we’re gonna remember he said that.”

Of the four NFC North teams, only the Bears didn’t make the playoffs in the 2024 campaign.
